Oilstainlab HF-11 is a lightweight sports car with exciting performance

Oilstainlab HF-11 plays on the lightweight high power formula to generate driving pleasure.

After the IndyCar-inspired Half11 showed last year, the California-based company Oilstainlab is back with the HF-11, which host a mid-engine and rear-wheel drive layout, with less weight than the Mazda MX-5 but with three and a half times more power than the Japanese roadster. As for the price, it is $ 1.85 million.

According to the company’s founders, Nikita and IIiya Bredan, the car relies on a 4.5 liter flat-six engine that can rev up to 12,000 rpm to enjoys a 650 HP. Contrary to what some might think, the car’s powertrain is not a Porsche creation, as the twin brothers told Car and Driver that the naturally aspirated engine is not from Zuffenhausen.

In order to keep weight as low as possible, the HF-11 combines a carbon fiber monocoque with a full carbon body and a forged centerlock wheels.

A track-only version is also planned, with 18-inch wheels on both axles and slick Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The road-legal model will have 19-inch front wheels and 20-inch rear wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.

Apart from the six-cylinder engine, the American brand is developing the HF-11 in a way that can accommodate an all-electric powertrain as well, capable of 860 HP.

The EV version is expected to be heavier, with Top Gear claiming the company is targeting a curb weight of 953 kg. However, the weight penalty of around 45 kg seems reasonable, especially after fitting a massive 80kWh battery pack.

Inside the cabin, HF-11 will have plenty of luxury equipment, including air conditioning, a digital rearview mirror, electric and heated mirrors, and a reversing camera.

In terms of practicality, the cabin will provide a comfortable seating position even for a 6 feet 3 inch tall passengers. And all of the 25 unit planned for production, will come with a pair of helmets in the doors.

After the official reveal, the newly established brand will roll out a working prototype and eventually start limited production in the second or third quarter of 2025. However, finding 25 buyers in an already crowded segment will be no easy task as Oilstainlab lacks the brand heritage of big players like Porsche, Ferrari or McLaren.
