If you thought Brabus had reached peak insanity with their portal-axled G-Wagen revealed earlier this month, think again. The German tuning powerhouse has just unveiled the Brabus XLP 800 Adventure — a full-blown pickup truck with 800hp, off-road capability that rivals military vehicles, and a price tag that screams old money.
This isn’t just another G-Class with flashy bodywork. The XLP 800 Adventure is a bold take on the Mercedes-AMG G63 (W 465), reimagined with Brabus’ signature flair and an unmistakably rugged utility twist. It’s been extended by half a metre to accommodate a bespoke pickup bed and features a hardcore suspension overhaul complete with portal axles, CNC-milled intermediate gears, and a staggering 470mm of ground clearance. In case you’re wondering, that’s 18.5 inches. Yes, it can literally look down on most 4x4s.
Portal Axles: Go Where Others Can’t
Brabus didn’t hold back on the hardware. The new portal axle suspension system, developed in-house, allows the XLP 800 Adventure to tackle extreme off-road challenges with ease. This setup not only increases ground clearance but also pushes the fording depth to 916mm (36 inches). That’s no match for Noah’s ark, but it is enough to wade through small rivers or tackle post-apocalyptic terrain.
It rides on 22-inch Monoblock HD forged wheels, wrapped in chunky 325/55 R22 Pirelli Scorpion ATR all-terrain tires. The wide stance is reinforced with WIDESTAR fender flares, bringing the total width to a monstrous 2,100mm. And let’s not forget the winch, capable of pulling 4.5 tonnes, because if you’re not yanking something out of a ditch with your €750,000 (speculated) truck, what are you even doing?
Supercar-Like Power In A Super-Sized Pickup
Under the hood lies Brabus/Mercedes-AMG’s familiar but still jaw-dropping 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8. In Brabus’ 800 tune, it produces 800hp and 1,000Nm. That’s just enough to rocket this G-Wagen-on-steroids from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, despite its size and added weight. Top speed is electronically limited to 210km/h, a figure more surreal when you consider it’s being achieved by what is essentially a luxurious battle tank sans the 120mm cannon.
Brabus’ custom side-exit exhaust ensures you’ll be heard before you’re seen. Power is transmitted through the AMG 9-speed gearbox, with manual shifting handled via carbon fiber paddle shifters.
Carbon Fibre & Premium Materials Overload
The body is drenched in exposed carbon fiber, from the power dome hood, mirror caps, and roof rack wind deflector to the tailgate panel. The carbon grille is flanked by an illuminated Brabus badge, while the front and rear aprons are redesigned for a more aggressive stance.
The pickup bed is lined with soft teak, the same material used on ultra-luxurious Brabus Marine yachts. And yes, it even has a heated rear window, because no Brabus vehicle ever goes half-measure. Inside, the XLP 800 Adventure trades mud-proof rubber for luxury overload. The interior is blanketed in Sky Blue leather, stitched in the “Diamond Double” pattern with pinpoint perforation to support seat climate control. You’ll also find Alcantara, machined aluminum trim, and the iconic ‘77’ logos paying homage to Brabus’ founding year.
Brabus doesn’t publish official pricing, but expect a figure north of €750,000, and that’s before customization. Of course, every unit is built to order, and buyers can specify virtually every detail, from the exterior color scheme to the stitching on the seats. It’s wild, unapologetic, brutally fast, and laughably capable. It’s the type of machine that shouldn’t exist, and yet here it is, portal axles and all.
