Created in response to demand sparked by the 500,000th G-Class built in 2023, it blends historic colours, exclusive design cues, and details from the iconic 280 GE. Paying tribute to the original W 460 series of the 1980s, the Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s honours the “Geländewagen” icon with its unmatched on- and off-road prowess—making this edition a coveted collector’s item.
Exterior: Throwback design elements and 3 solid colour choices
The G-Class Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s is offered as a G 450 d or G 500, blending modern technology and comfort with 1980s charm. Customers can choose from three nostalgic colours, all original G-Class paint options, namely MANUFAKTUR agave green solid (an earthy tone reflecting nature and off-road prowess), MANUFAKTUR cream solid (a timeless, elegant shade popular among urban drivers) and MANUFAKTUR Colorado beige solid (a warm, sandy hue evoking adventure and the G-Class’s versatile 1980s spirit).
Matching the historic paint, the iconic orange turn signal indicators evoke the era’s style. Enhancing the vintage look, the front end, radiator grille, bumpers, flared arches, and mirror housings are finished in night black magno, with black technical underbody protection. The edition features classic 5-spoke light-alloy wheels, a bonnet emblem styled after the original Mercedes star with blue laurel detailing, and a rear silver brand badge from the 1980s with black “Mercedes-Benz” lettering, along with an edition-specific spare wheel cover.
The edition features select elements from the PROFESSIONAL Line Exterior for a bold off-road look, including PROFESSIONAL mud flaps (front and rear), headlamp protective grilles for the darkened headlights, and all-terrain tyres.
