Maserati has always been a brand that speaks in octaves of passion, performance, and pure Italian style. Now, with the unveiling of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica One-Offs, the Trident has struck a new chord. Not just a comeback, but a homecoming — the return of the GT and its open-top sibling to the historic Viale Ciro Menotti plant in Modena signals a full-circle moment for Maserati and its petrol-soaked heritage.
Modena is more than just a home base, it’s the birthplace of legends. And Maserati chose to celebrate this return with proper theatrical drama at the Teatro Comunale Modena Pavarotti-Freni in association with Sonus Faber.
Maserati Trofeo Power
Both the GranTurismo and GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica One-Off models arrive exclusively in Trofeo specification. That means a twin-turbo V6 Nettuno beating under their sculpted hoods, delivering 550hp of pure Maserati fury.

And for this special edition, engineers went even further, redesigning the exhaust system to deliver what they call the “Maserati Meccanica Lirica” signature. Think of it as an exhaust tuned like an instrument: refined valve control, a distinct tone for each driving mode, and a launch note that hits like the opening of an overture. Even the exhaust tips are gold-coloured.
Rosso Velluto & Oro Lirico: Multi-Layer Paints Optimized for Light, Depth, and Finish
Maserati Centro Stile composed some amazing colours. The GranTurismo Meccanica Lirica wears Rosso Velluto, a deep, multilayer red inspired by the velvet of opera house seats. It’s not flat or simple; it’s complex. Under low light, it broods, while in sunlight, it bursts into a vibrant, fiery brilliance.
The GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica wears Oro Lirico, a champagne-gold with subtle red undertones that shimmers like stage lights on gilded balconies. Both it and the GranTurismo’s Rosso Velluto use complex pigment layers usually reserved for one-off show cars. With 21-inch black CRIO wheels, matching accents, and a gold Trident on the grille, these cars radiate the elegance and presence Maserati intended.
Cabins Tuned Like an Instrument
Inside, Maserati’s Fuoriserie team unleashed its most artisanal craftsmanship yet. For the first time, GranTurismo cabin materials mix rich burgundy leather with Nude Alcantara, a pairing that feels like sliding into a handcrafted theater seat. Bordeaux stitching and dark red inserts continue the opera-house theme, while the Sonus faber speaker grilles receive the same gold hand-finished treatment as the exterior details.
But the real showstopper? Red-painted poplar wood across the doors and dashboard — a tribute to Italian violin-making and the musical heritage of Modena. These aren’t decorative plastics. This is real wood, painted and polished to perfection like a stage instrument. Each car is also marked with a “Creata a Modena” badge that signals they belong to Modena.
The Meccanica Lirica Pack: Bringing the Opera to the Streets
For enthusiasts who want a taste of the One-Off treatment without going full bespoke, Maserati has created the Meccanica Lirica Pack, available across the GranTurismo and GranCabrio lineup — including the Folgore EV versions.
The pack includes:
- 20/21-inch CRIO wheels in matte black with clear-gold highlights
- White Gold Matte badges
- Special edition exhaust tips
- Burgundy leather + Nude Alcantara cabin
- Black steering wheel, headliner, and custom “Creata a Modena” badging
- Optional Rosso Velluto or Oro Lirico paint
On EV models, the exhaust tips and wheels differ due to architecture, but the aesthetic direction stays faithful to the theme.
A Factory Reborn: Human Expertise At The Heart Of Every Build
Behind this artistic flourish lies a serious industrial flex. Maserati retooled the Modena plant in just 45 days to build the GranTurismo, GranCabrio, and MC Pura models on the same line — while maintaining a production capacity of up to seven cars a day.
The process remains deeply artisanal: only three robots operate in the entire plant. Everything else is hand-assembled by expert craftsmen trained for thousands of hours. Add in the newly upgraded paint shop capable of 24 personalized paint applications per day, and Modena becomes a boutique of performance and design.
