Launches and Announcements at the Apple 2024 Glowtime Event

Apple introduced its new iPhone 16 series, AirPods 4, and Apple Watch Series 10 at the “It’s Glowtime” event. The iPhone 16 features on-device AI capabilities, while the AirPods 4 offers potential hearing aid and hearing test functions. The Apple Watch Series 10 includes a possible sleep apnea detection feature. iOS 18 will be available for download on September 16th.

iPhone 16 Pro

Apple has unveiled the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, featuring significant upgrades in display size, camera capabilities, performance, and design. The new models boast larger displays, an advanced camera system with a 48MP Fusion camera and 4K120 fps video recording, a durable titanium design, and the A18 Pro chip for powerful performance.

Apple Watch Series 10

Apple has unveiled the Apple Watch Series 10, featuring a refined design and enhanced capabilities. It’s the thinnest Apple Watch yet, with a larger and more advanced display. New features include sleep apnea notifications, faster charging, water depth and temperature sensing, and health and fitness insights.  

Available in aluminium and titanium finishes, the Apple Watch Series 10 offers a range of stunning colours. The S10 SiP and built-in 4-core Neural Engine enable intelligent features like the double tap gesture, on-device Siri, dictation, and automatic workout detection. The device is also lighter and has a larger display, improving readability and usability.  

Apple Watch Series 10 is designed for water activities with its swim-proof design, depth gauge, water temperature sensor, and Tides app. The new watch faces, including Flux and Reflections, take advantage of the bigger display and faster refresh rate.  

Additional features include faster charging, insightful sleep apnea notifications, and enhanced communication capabilities. The watch is also available in new polished aluminium and titanium finishes. Apple Watch Series 10 is designed with sustainability in mind, featuring recycled materials and renewable energy.

Apple has unveiled the Apple Watch Ultra 2, a rugged and capable smartwatch designed for athletes and adventurers. Featuring a striking black titanium finish, it offers the most accurate GPS, the brightest display, and up to 36 hours of battery life.  watchOS 11 brings powerful new features to Apple Watch Ultra 2, including training load insights, sleep apnea notifications, the Tides app, and customizable Action button options. The new Titanium Milanese Loop band is designed for water activities and offers comfort and elegance.  

Apple Watch Ultra 2 is available for pre-order, with availability starting on September 20. Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, stated that the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is the most advanced version yet, offering intelligence, a large display, and a sleek design.

Apple AirPod 4, Apple AirPod 4 with ANC and Apple AirPods Max

Apple has introduced a new lineup of AirPods, including the AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation. The AirPods Max is now available in five new colours and features USB-C charging. Additionally, AirPods Pro 2 will offer a groundbreaking hearing health experience with Loud Sound Reduction, a Hearing Test, and a Hearing Aid feature.

AirPods 4 and AirPods Max are available for pre-order, with AirPods Pro 2’s hearing health features coming soon. Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, John Ternus, highlighted the advancements in AirPods 4, including their open-ear design, enhanced audio quality, and intelligent features.

AirPods 4 offers a comfortable fit, improved sound quality, personalized Spatial Audio, and Voice Isolation. The charging case supports USB-C charging and wireless charging. AirPods 4 with ANC provides active noise cancellation, Transparency mode, Adaptive Audio, and Conversation Awareness.

AirPods Max is now available in five new colours and features USB-C charging. AirPods Pro 2 will introduce Loud Sound Reduction, a Hearing Test, and a Hearing Aid feature, providing users with a comprehensive hearing health experience.

Apple is committed to improving hearing health and has introduced various features for AirPods Pro, including the Noise app on Apple Watch, headphone audio levels on iPhone, and hearing accessibility features. Loud Sound Reduction helps prevent exposure to loud environmental noise, while the Hearing Test allows users to check their hearing from home. The Hearing Aid feature provides personalized hearing assistance for those with mild to moderate hearing loss.

AirPods are designed with sustainability in mind, using recycled materials and reducing packaging volume. Apple aims to be carbon neutral by 2030.
