Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Shatters Records, Sets Sights on Top Speed Glory

The record was achieved using a standard Jesko Absolut, running on E85 fuel and equipped with factory Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tyres.

Koenigsegg maintains its dominance in the hypercar arena by claiming a new world record for the fastest 0-400-0 km/h run by a production car. This remarkable feat, achieved on June 27th, 2024, at an airfield in Sweden, further solidifies the brand’s reputation for crafting innovative and extreme-performance vehicles.

Building on Previous Success

The record-breaking run comes just one year after Koenigsegg’s Regera reclaimed the 0-400-0 km/h title with a time of 28.81 seconds at the same location. This time, however, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, piloted by test driver Markus Lundh, obliterated the previous record, completing the staggering feat in a mere 27.83 seconds – a near one-second improvement.

Engineered for Minimal Drag

The Jesko Absolut, specifically designed for ultimate straight-line speed, played a pivotal role in achieving this record. This variant boasts a smaller frontal area, meticulously designed ventilation for targeted high-pressure air release, and the absence of active aero elements – all meticulously crafted to minimize drag. This dedication to streamlining results in one of the lowest drag coefficients in the hypercar world (Cd of just 0.278).

A Multi-Record Run

Remarkably, the Jesko Absolut didn’t just break one record; it established four new world marks for a fully homologated production car in a single run:

  • 0-400-0 km/h: 27.83 seconds (new record)
  • 0-400 km/h: 18.82 seconds (new record)
  • 0-250 mph (402 km/h): 19.20 seconds (new record)
  • 0-250-0 mph: 28.27 seconds (new record)
  • Optimal Conditions and Standard Equipment

The record-breaking run was meticulously planned. After preliminary runs on June 26th revealed less-than-ideal track and air temperatures, the team waited until the early hours of June 27th, when cooler temperatures and calm winds provided perfect conditions for pushing the limits.

Furthermore, the record was achieved using a standard Jesko Absolut, running on E85 fuel and equipped with factory Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tyres. The only modifications were a safety roll cage and a driver-preferred One:1 driver seat. Additionally, industry-standard Racelogic timing equipment, verified by Racelogic HQ, ensured the accuracy of the recorded times.

Looking to the Future

Koenigsegg CEO Christian von Koenigsegg sees this achievement as validation of the Jesko Absolut’s simulated and calculated performance. While the focus now shifts to tyre testing and approval for an official attempt at the top speed record, the future remains exciting. Koenigsegg also plans to explore the record-breaking potential of the Jesko Attack, a track-focused variant of the Jesko.

This record-breaking run by the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut further cements the brand’s position at the forefront of hypercar technology and performance. With sights set on even more records, Koenigsegg continues to push the boundaries of automotive engineering and redefine the very notion of a production car.
