What is the Kawasaki Road to Himalaya?
The Road to Himalaya is Kawasaki India’s rider development initiative, designed to take everyday Kawasaki riders from basic off-road training to competing in the prestigious Rally of Himalaya. The Program aims to bridge the gap between recreational off-roading and professional rally racing, calling off-roading enthusiasts across the nation to hone their skills under expert mentorship.
What are the key phases and timeline?
It’s a multi-phase journey – with the first phase starting from April to August 2026, emphasising skill-building on challenging terrains, preparing riders to tackle the wildest terrains nature can throw at them. Riders who qualify these rounds are set up for one final selection round scheduled in September. Upon clearing the final round, selected riders get the chance to take part in the coveted Rally of the Himalayas.
What training will participants receive?
Phase 1 focuses on providing hands-on training from official Kawasaki professionals mastered in the art of off-road techniques. The guidance ranges from adventure riding techniques, bike control on loose gravel/snow terrains, endurance strategies, and rally-specific skills like navigation and bike maintenance.
Which motorcycle is used in the program?
The Kawasaki KLX230 is the star bike, a lightweight 233cc air-cooled single-cylinder trail machine boasting 19 hp of power and 19 Nm of torque with 255mm of ground clearance, and long-travel suspension, all built on a perimeter frame ideal for the rugged demands of the Himalayas, ideal for transitioning from streets to snow-covered tracks.
How to register for the program?
Existing and prospective Kawasaki owners with a valid Indian driver’s licence are eligible and can register for the program through a local Kawasaki dealership.
