What is the Jawa 730 Twin?
Jawa 730 Twin is the latest venture from the fabled Czechoslovakian motorcycle maker Jawa. This is the brand’s effort to make a comeback in the European market, with its middleweight neo-retro challenger.
One thing that needs to be clarified here is that the Jawa 730 twin originates from the original manufacturer in the Czech Republic, not the one seen in India, sold by Mahindra’s Classic Legends division.
To clear this confusion, Czech Jawa kept control of its core IP, licensing the name to Mahindra’s classic legends for non-overlapping local production in 2017. The Jawa 730 Twin marks a premium European revival, separate from the Indian range.
What are the key engine specifications?
While the motorcycle is still in a prototype phase, it is powered by a 730cc parallel twin, making about 74hp. However, when the motorcycle hits the showroom floors, it will likely come in a restricted 42hp variant compliant with an A2 restriction.
What chassis and suspension setup does it feature?
The Jawa 730 Twin features a steel tube bridge frame, which weighs 213kg. As for the suspension hardware, it uses fully adjustable KYB upside-down forks upfront, and a KYB monoshock rear. suspended by the suspension are 17-inch alloys with 120/70 front and 180/55 rear tyres.
What type of braking Hardware does it incorporate?
The Jawa 730 Twin features dual front discs with Brembo radial-mount callipers, a single rear disc, and Bosch dual-channel ABS provide confident stopping power.
What modern features does it include?
The bike stays quite conservative on the electronics front, featuring a few essential modern features only, such as a connectivity-enabled TFT display with navigation, calls, SMS, full LED lighting, and keyless ignition.
However, the Jawa 730 Twin misses out on riding modes or advanced aids like traction control or cornering ABS, features which have become a norm in the segment.
What does the Jawa 730 Twin’s design look like?
The Jawa 730 Twin sports a compact, muscular roadster aesthetic with a unique Jawa round LED headlamp framed by a distinctive case, a narrow teardrop fuel tank featuring an exposed steel trellis frame showcasing the 730cc twin engine as a visual centrepiece.
Why is this bike significant for Jawa Moto?
The Jawa 730 Twin signals the Czech original’s independent revival post-brand licensing deals, leveraging the JD 730 platform for global ambitions while honouring 1929 heritage with cutting-edge engineering.
