Jawa 42 FJ launched in India at INR 1.99 lakh

A new member of the Jawa’s 42 clan: The Jawa 42 FJ

A few days back Jawa unveiled their updated iteration of the Jawa 42 neo classic motorcycle with some needed updates – but, make no mistake the newly launched Jawa 42 FJ is anything but just a mid-cycle model update of the regular Jawa 42 that Jawa prematurely launched in just a few days after they updated the Old Jawa 42.

As mentioned it is anything but that, The New Jawa 42 FJ not only bears a new initial succeeding its name – but it showcases a completely different design than the regular Jawa 42 – one of the first evident changes you’d notice is a teardrop-shaped tank, a redesigned handlebars and seat – gives off a very neo cafe racer vibe and offers a committed riding style – which is quite a contrast to the regular Jawa 42, adding to the drama is the blacked out engine, twin exhaust, and other bits and pieces around the engine bay contributes to the overall sporty aesthetic of the Motorcycle.

To complement the sporty visuals of the Motorcycle – Jawa opted for an Alpha 2 engine from Jawa 350 which is evidently more powerful than the regular J platform 294cc engine from the regular Jawa 42. This 323cc and DOHC, liquid-cooled engine of the new Jawa 42 FJ produces 22 hp and 22Nm Torque, paired with a new 6Speed gearbox with slip and assist.

The new Jawa 42 FJ presumably sits on the same double Cradle frame as the Jawa 42 but with a slightly modified subframe that is suspended to a 41mm front telescopic suspension and dual pre-load adjustable rear shock absorbers. Dual-channel disc brakes handle braking duties at the front and the rear.

Other notable features of the Motorcycle are an offset semi-digital gauge cluster and an LED headlight, and customers can opt for a model with alloy wheels or spoked wheels based on the trim they opt for. Jawa 42fj is offered with four different trim levels and five colour options – Aurora green matte, Cosmo blue matte, mystique copper, matte black and matte red.

Bookings for the bike have begun and the deliveries will soon ensue – the cost to own one would range between – INR 1.99 lakh to as high as INR 2.22 lakh based on the variant and colour options. Both by design and by the pricing – this puts The Jawa 42 FJ directly in the path of the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and Honda CB350 RS – both embodying the modern neo-cafe racer persona.
