Honda 0 SUV Prototype unveiled with an F1 Champion behind the wheel

With four-time champion Max Verstappen at the wheel, is there a better unveiling?!

Over twenty years ago, we got some wild, F1-inspired engines. Automakers knew the days of a multicylinder, high-revolution engine were nearly spent. As we march towards all-electric vehicles, Honda has tapped back into their F1 contacts and called champion Max Verstappen to help them unveil their 0 Series SUV Prototype. It might not be the F1-inspired car we deserve, but if Honda has shown us in the past that they’re experts at making motoring magic, we are in for a treat.

The Honda 0 SUV is set to be complemented with a Saloon (sedan or four-door if you’re confused) and is going to host their next-generation technology with their ‘Thin, Light and Wise’ approach for all 0 Series models. This newly developed architecture was first unveiled at CES 2024 with the car design shown the following year. Honda’s approach is a spacious cabin with a high bar for flexibility and visibility. They’ve even coined their new value for these 0 Series EVs as a “space” for people.

They picked a fast person to unveil the car, considering their emphasis on the car being a place for people. They added F1 stars Yuki Tsunoda from Red Bull Racing and Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar from Racing Bulls to help Max with the demonstration before this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka Circuit. Their partnership with Red Bull Racing has resulted in 63 F1 victories and four consecutive World Championships for Max Verstappen so far!

If Honda has shown us anything, it’s that they are an engine company. If they can apply their magic to their EV offerings, we’re in for a treat. The Honda 0 SUV will be built in Ohio and introduced next year, and then global markets.

Cheers!
