GMC Lands The Canyon AT4X In The Middle East For The First Time
The midsize pickup is powered by a 2.7-litre turbocharged engine producing 310hp.
To strengthen its range of trucks and AT4 vehicles in the Middle East, GMC Arabia has introduced the Canyon pickup. Never before has the GM-owned brand sold the Canyon in the region. The midsize truck, which is smaller than the Sierra, is available in AT4X form, with prices starting at AED 192,500 in the UAE.
The GMC Canyon AT4X has much in its arsenal to take on the toughest terrains. The list includes an off-road suspension package with an ultra-wide track, a factory lift for improved approach, break-over, and departure angles, Multimatic DSSV shocks, front and rear locking differentials, 32-inch off-road tyres (33-inch MT tyres), and five drive modes, including the AT4X-exclusive Baja mode.
Powering the GMC Canyon AT4X is a 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 310hp/583Nm, while an 8-speed automatic handles transmission duties. The pickup, equipped with a standard short bed with a crew cab layout, can tow up to 2,722kg.
While tackling the rough stuff is in its DNA, the GMC Canyon AT4X also has a host of creature comforts. Underbody cameras, for example, help the driver manoeuvre the pickup in tricky situations. Indoors, the 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The driver’s side features multifunction steering, an 11.1-inch digital instrument cluster and a 6.3-inch head-up display.
The Canyon Pro Safety Package ropes in assistance and safety features such as automatic emergency braking, auto high-beam function for the headlights, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning and Blind Zone Steering Assist. The Technology Package introduces Rear Pedestrian Alert, adaptive cruise control and HD Surround Vision.
The GMC Canyon ATX4 is available in eight exterior colours, with an all-black interior theme and a few white and red inserts. The truck also comes with a free trial of GMC’s OnStar connected-car services.
