G-Power Introduces Three Performance Upgrades For The New M2

The tuner might be late to join the party, but the enthusiasts won’t mind.

M-powered BMWs have always been popular with tuners, especially in Europe. And the newest plaything for them from the Munich-based auto giant is the second-gen M2. It has been on the market since last year, and many aftermarket performance upgrades are already available. The latest to join the bandwagon are three such packages from G-Power. The tuner from Bavaria might be late to join the party, but the enthusiasts won’t mind the options it brings.

The new-gen BMW M2 houses a turbocharged 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine that outputs 460hp/550Nm. G-Power’s entry-level GP-600 performance upgrade uplifts those numbers to 600hp/720Nm. That’s an increment of 140hp/170Nm, enough for most keen drivers. But if that isn’t enough, the second-level upgrade – the GP-650 – might just be because it delivers 650hp/780Nm. Those yearning for the most powerful upgrade from G-Power can settle for the GP-700 tune. That, you guessed it, takes the peak power to 700hp and bumps maximum torque to 840Nm.

All three packages require an ECU unlock. Per G-Power, the performance packages also deliver better responsiveness and improved overall efficiency. The top two packages come with the tuner’s GP-Deeptone exhaust system. The GP-700 ropes in sport downpipes.

What good is a performance uplift if it doesn’t reflect in the car’s aesthetics? To address precisely that, G-Power offers two options for the wheels from its Hurricane series – RR and RS. For the M2, both forged rims measure 20 inches in diameter at the front and 21 inches at the rear, accompanied by Michelin rubber in 285/30R20 and 295/25R21, respectively. A GP Dynamic carbon fibre rear wing, a G-Power decal set and a GP carbon engine cover add to the sporty quotient. The tuner will soon introduce a GP Venturi carbon fibre engine cover to further improve thermal management under the bonnet.

For the cabin, G-Power offers several customisations, including a range of sport steering wheels with carbon fibre elements and LED displays, carbon shift paddles, velour carpets and a complete upholstery change with leather.
