Favre Leuba unveils a new version of the Sea Sky Revival

The brand’s vintage inspired tri-compax chronograph is now available with a vibrant green dial.

Favre Leuba has launched the Sea Sky Revival with a vibrant green dial. It joins the model’s lineup which includes versions in black, brown, and blue. The Sea Sky Revival collection debuted in 2024.

Key Features

Functions and Operations

Image: The Sea Sky Revival is inspired by vintage Sea Sky models from the 1960s. The outer tachymetre scale enables “measuring velocity over a known distance (ideal for pilots, race car drivers, or those who need a quick fix on the average speed over a fixed distance).” The inner telemetre scale enables “calculating the distance to an event based on sound wave propagation (useful for military personnel, meteorologists, or anyone having to measure the progress of an approaching thunderstorm, for instance).”

Central hours and minutes. Small seconds on subdial at 9 o’clock. Chronograph functions: Central chronograph seconds. 30-minute counter on subdial at 3 o’clock. 12-hour counter on subdial at 6 o’clock.

Crown at 3 o’clock for winding and time setting. Pusher at 2 o’clock to start / stop the chronograph. Pusher at 4 o’clock to reset the chronograph.

Dial

Image: Green is not a typical dial colour. Notice the brand’s 3D logo, printed details, and broad arrow shaped hands – a vintage inspired feature.

Green dial with a sunburst finish. Black subdials with a snailed pattern. Printed details, including the telemetre and tachymetre scales. The hour and minute hands, hour-markers, and the triangle on the bezel are coated with Super-LumiNova (green emission).

Movement

Movement finishing includes “perlage on the lower bridges, Côtes de Genève on the main plate, soleillage on the rotor, heat-treated blued screws, and more. The 4N rotor is skeletonized and custom-designed with colimaçon & soleillage finishes.” It is a dependable chronograph movement that will be easily serviceable by qualified watchmakers worldwide.

Powered by calibre FLC01, an automatic column-wheel chronograph movement based on the La Joux-Perret L112. It drives the hours, minutes, and small seconds with a stop seconds function, and the chronograph functions. Jewels: 26. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 60 hours.

Case

Image: Vintage inspired but a modern and robust watch. Notice the interplay of polished and brushed surfaces on the case, and the brand’s logo embossed on the crown – among other details. I love the dial details – enough to keep me interested, but not so busy that it gets unnecessarily crowded. Notice the stitching on the leather strap.

Case is made from stainless steel. Unidirectional rotating bezel is made from stainless steel with a ceramic insert.  Diameter: 40 mm. Thickness: 15.23 mm. Lug width: 20 mm. Dial side features a double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. Caseback features a sapphire crystal. Water resistant up to 10 ATM or approximately 100 metres. The watch comes with a black leather strap fitted with a pin buckle made from stainless steel.

Our Thoughts

Image: Featuring both a 30-minute and 12-hour counter and a tachymetre and telemetre scale – and powered by a column wheel chronograph movement – the Sea Sky Revival is a serious chronograph at an affordable price point. Perfect for beginner collectors seeking their first chronograph. Kudos to the brand for not incorporating an awkward date window.

The Sea Sky Revival with its vibrant green dial features a storied brand name (Favre Leuba is the second oldest watch brand), interesting details (the telemetre and tachymetre scales), and a column-wheel chronograph movement. It evokes a sense of luxury without an exorbitant price tag and makes a compelling case for a versatile “everyday” watch.
