Etihad Will Restart Direct Flights To Zanzibar Next Year

The airline will operate four weekly flights to the island known for its white-sand beaches and spice plantations.

The national carrier of the UAE, Etihad Airways, has announced the resumption of its direct service to Zanzibar. With this confirmation, the carrier has announced its 30th new destination this year. The 29th was announced earlier this month. The route between Abu Dhabi and the island in the Indian Ocean will be seasonal. More specifically, the airline will fly to Zanzibar between June 14 and September 6, 2026.

Etihad Airways will use an Airbus A320, featuring Business and Economy cabins, on the newly reinstated route. Flight EY791 will depart from Abu Dhabi at 09:10 and land in Zanzibar at 13:50. Those travelling in the opposite direction will board flight EY792, which will start and conclude its journey at 17:50 and 00:30 the next day, respectively. These flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Zanzibar is a popular summer destination, especially for Europeans. The island is known for its white-sand beaches, coral reefs and spice plantations. Furthermore, it’s home to Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site that reflects centuries of African, Arab, and European influences.

Etihad Airways believes that the route to Zanzibar from Abu Dhabi will be highly sought after, not only by Europeans but also by travellers from the GCC region.
