Emirates and Air Canada renew agreement for the better

It deepens codeshare, loyalty and cargo cooperation through 2032.

What has been agreed?

Emirates and Air Canada have signed a memorandum of understanding to extend their strategic partnership until December 31, 2032. Since its launch in 2022, the collaboration has connected more than 550,000 customers across 56 codeshare routes linking Canada, the U.S., Dubai and destinations worldwide.

How will this benefit customers and shippers?

The agreement boosts Air Canada’s international reach by enabling daily year-round flights between Toronto and Dubai. It improves connections for passengers and cargo to Asia, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent. The partnership also expands access to loyalty perks, lounges, and interline travel.

What is Emirates’ perspective?

Emirates considers the renewal a continuation of a successful partnership, emphasising better passenger and cargo services, expanded connectivity, and enhanced customer experience on codeshare flights. It also acts as a catalyst for trade growth between Canada and the UAE.

What are the broader implications?

The agreement expands cargo cooperation, including potential new Canadian gateways and a joint venture. Operational coordination will ensure connectivity, possibly moving to Dubai World Central. The partnership broadens, with Air Canada codes on Emirates routes to the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, and Emirates customers accessing Canada and U.S. destinations.
