What has Emirates announced?
Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, ordered eight more Airbus A350-900 aircraft at Dubai Airshow 2025, valued at USD 3.4 billion. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB84 engines, the deal increases its A350-900 order to 73, with deliveries through 2031. Emirates has received thirteen A350s since November 2024.
Why is this significant for Emirates?
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, highlighted that the A350 has added welcome capacity and introduced new in-flight products, including Premium Economy. He emphasised that the combined orders for the A350 and Boeing 777-9 represent a significant investment in customer experience and aviation’s broader economic impact, with 375 wide-body aircraft now on order.
How are partners responding?
Airbus EVP Sales Benoît de Saint-Exupéry welcomed Emirates’ renewed confidence in the A350, describing it as a benchmark for long-haul travel. Rolls-Royce’s Omar Ali Adib underscored the Trent XWB-84 engine’s durability and efficiency, noting its role in supporting Emirates’ expansion.
