Dubai Airshow 2025: Air Europa Shops for new Airbus A350s

Spanish carrier accelerates long-haul fleet renewal with landmark announcement at Dubai Airshow 2025.

What does the agreement mean for Air Europa’s fleet?

Air Europa has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for up to 40 A350-900 aircraft, marking a decisive step in its long-haul fleet replacement strategy. Announced at the Dubai Airshow 2025, the deal positions the A350 as the backbone of the airline’s future operations.

How will the A350 shape Air Europa’s growth?

The introduction of the A350 will accelerate the renewal of Air Europa’s current widebody fleet, boosting profitable growth across Latin American markets. The aircraft’s efficiency, range and economics are expected to strengthen the airline’s competitive position while offering passengers best-in-class comfort.

What did Air Europa and Airbus say?

Juan Jose Hidalgo, President of Air Europa, described the order as “a strategic milestone” that enables profitable expansion without compromise. Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales, welcomed the airline into the A350 family, calling the order “a strong endorsement of the A350 as the benchmark widebody platform.”

Why is the A350 significant?

The A350 is the world’s most modern widebody, capable of flying 9,700 nautical miles non-stop. Its Rolls-Royce engines and lightweight materials deliver a 25 per cent advantage in fuel burn, operating costs, and CO₂ emissions compared to previous-generation aircraft. The Airspace cabin enhances passenger experience, while compatibility with up to 50 per cent Sustainable Aviation Fuel underlines Airbus’s commitment to decarbonisation.

By October 2025, the A350 Family had secured over 1,400 orders from 64 customers worldwide.
