Land Rover Classic has expanded the Classic Defender V8 programme to include exterior colours, interior materials, and design details inspired by the current Defender OCTA.
What new colour options are available for the Classic Defender V8?
Land Rover Classic now allows the Classic Defender V8 to be finished in exterior colours that align with those offered on the Defender OCTA. Newly available shades include Petra Copper, Faroe Green, and Sargasso Blue, which are exclusive to the OCTA, along with Narvik Black and Patagonia White. These join existing Classic Defender V8 finishes such as Borasco Grey, Carpathian Grey, and Charente Grey.
Each vehicle undergoes an extensive paint process that involves preparation, colour matching, and final finishing. Buyers can select either a gloss finish or a satin finish developed to replicate the appearance of the Defender OCTA’s optional matte protective film.
How have interior materials and finishes been updated?
For the first time, the Classic Defender V8 can be specified with Ultrafabrics™ polyurethane material, a lightweight alternative to traditional leather. This material is available in Khaki Green, Light Cloud, and Lunar. Additional interior options include Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather and Ebony leather for configurations inspired by the Defender OCTA Black.
Seating options include heated Recaro sports seats, and customers can work directly with Land Rover Classic designers to define colour placement across interior components such as the steering wheel, dashboard, gear selectors, headlining, and door trims.
What exterior and design details distinguish these new specifications?
Several OCTA-inspired exterior elements are now available for the Classic Defender V8. These include a gloss black radiator grille designed to improve airflow and cooling, and a carbon fibre bonnet script. These components are exclusive to the Classic Defender V8 Works Bespoke programme and are intended to reflect visual cues from the modern Defender OCTA without altering the vehicle’s classic structure.
What mechanical upgrades are included in the Classic Defender V8?
Every Classic Defender V8 is rebuilt using a donor vehicle from the 2012–2016 production period and re-engineered with modern mechanical components. Power comes from a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine producing 405PS, paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission featuring a sport mode.
Chassis and driving upgrades include revised suspension with custom springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars, an updated steering system, and uprated braking hardware with four-piston callipers and larger discs at both the front and rear. Additional optional equipment includes updated infotainment systems, enhanced lighting packages, multiple wheel designs in various finishes, and a selection of accessories aimed at both on-road and off-road use.
Pricing, availability, and ordering details
The Classic Defender V8 is available to order through Land Rover Classic’s Works Bespoke programme and can be specified in 90 or 110 Station Waggon form, as well as a 90 Soft Top. Pricing starts from about $254,000 USD, excluding local taxes, and each vehicle includes a one-year, unlimited mileage warranty. Orders are built to individual specification, and customers do not need to own a Defender OCTA to request OCTA-inspired colours or trim options.
