VIETNAMESE EV MANUFACTURER VINFAST AUTO PARTNERS WITH AL TAYER MOTORS 

Yet another automaker is making its way to UAE shores. This time it is electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, VinFast Auto which has partnered with Al Tayer Motors, one of the more well-established automotive dealerships, for the distribution of VinFast vehicles in the UAE.

VinFast, a member of Vingroup,  was established in 2017 and it owns a state-of-the-art automotive manufacturing complex which boasts up to 90 percent automation in Hai Phong, Vietnam. While, Al Tayer Motors was established in 1982 and represents a number of European and American automobile manufacturers like Ford, Lincoln, Ferrari, Maserati, Ford Trucks, and Foton across the UAE, and Jaguar Land Rover too, which is under the Indian conglomerate TATA group.

With the signing, Al Tayer Motors has become VinFast Auto’s exclusive UAE dealer and will establish a network of showrooms and service facilities for the Vietnamese EV brand across the Emirates. The first facility is scheduled to open in 2024 and will retail four VinFast e-SUV models, VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, and VF 9, with more models from its range joining later. Given that Al Tayer Motors has an impressive physical infrastructure and cutting-edge digital platforms, including e-commerce and dedicated app, VinFast may benefit greatly from this collaboration.

The new partnership comes as Al Tayer Motors attempts to diversify its product portfolio to support the UAE’s vision to shift to green mobility and aim to increase the share of EVs to 50 per cent of total vehicles on the UAE’s roads by 2050.

In addition to markets such as North America and Europe, VinFast is actively expanding into neighbouring, markets such as India, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, as well as the Middle East and Africa.
