CHARGE ZONE Revs Up India’s EV Infrastructure with Superchargers

The expansion prioritizes strategic locations, focusing on areas with high traffic volume, good grid connectivity, and land availability. Key routes across Southern and Western India will be prioritised, including highways connecting Bangalore-Chennai, Bangalore-Hyderabad, and major metropolitan areas like Mumbai, Pune, and Ahmedabad.

CHARGE ZONE, India’s leading electric vehicle (EV) charging network, is making significant strides towards a sustainable future. The company recently announced a major expansion of its supercharging infrastructure, aiming to cater to electric buses, trucks, and personal mobility vehicles across the country.

This expansion plan involves establishing 25 new supercharging stations within the current fiscal year, with an ambitious long-term goal of reaching 500 stations. These stations will boast capacities ranging from 360KW to 1.2MW, marking a substantial six-fold increase in charging capacity compared to previous fast-charging models.

“Our new supercharging network is a crucial step towards a future powered by clean energy,” said Mr Kartikey Hariyani, Founder and CEO of CHARGE ZONE. “By pushing the boundaries of EV super-charging technology, we aim to deliver innovative solutions that benefit various industries.”

The expansion prioritizes strategic locations, focusing on areas with high traffic volume, good grid connectivity, and land availability. Key routes across Southern and Western India will be prioritized, including highways connecting Bangalore-Chennai, Bangalore-Hyderabad, and major metropolitan areas like Mumbai, Pune, and Ahmedabad.

This expansion is backed by the success of a six-month pilot program. The pilot yielded positive results, with strong utilization of electric cars and buses. User feedback highlighted the efficiency of the network, with charging times significantly reduced to 15-20 minutes compared to the 45 minutes typically required by fast DC charging stations.

“This rollout marks a significant milestone for sustainable transportation in India,” Mr. Hariyani, emphasised. “By expanding our supercharging network, we not only address the needs of current EV users but also pave the way for a cleaner future. Our commitment to renewable energy ensures a robust and reliable infrastructure for all types of electric vehicles.”

CHARGE ZONE prioritizes sustainability by integrating solar rooftops and battery storage systems into its supercharging stations. This commitment extends to transforming national highways into renewable corridors, minimizing the network’s environmental impact.

Widespread awareness and accessibility are crucial for user adoption. CHARGE ZONE leverages a multi-pronged approach that includes signage, PlugShare, Google Maps, and their own mobile app to ensure users can easily locate and utilize the stations.

The company has set ambitious goals for the next six months, aiming to increase the number of stations and deploy superchargers that can significantly boost charging speeds for all four-wheeled EVs. Their intercity charging strategy focuses on meticulous route planning, strategically placed stations, and high-speed capabilities. Additionally, user convenience is prioritized through mobile app integration and multiple payment options.

Safety remains a top concern. CHARGE ZONE implements 24/7 surveillance, emergency support, and remote monitoring for efficient maintenance and prompt response to any issues.

CHARGE ZONE’s ultimate goal is to electrify 150,000 kilometres of highways across India. This ambitious plan involves installing 1,000 stations along key routes and continuously optimising the network based on user feedback.

Supported by partnerships with government bodies, private entities, and leading automobile manufacturers like Audi, Hyundai, Mercedes Benz, MG Motors, and Tata Motors, CHARGE ZONE is well-positioned to ensure the reliability and long-term success of its supercharging network.
