Brabus’ latest mental creation takes the brand-new Mercedes-AMG G 63 (W 465), throws the roof in the bin, and comes back with two limited-edition cabrio monsters: the Brabus 800 Cabrio and the Brabus XL 800 Cabrio.
Both are “Masterpiece” builds, both are limited to just 50 units worldwide, and both are powered by an 800hp, 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 pushing out a hilarious 1,000Nm of torque through a nine-speed Speedshift TCT gearbox and all-wheel drive:
- 800 Cabrio: the open-air street weapon, lower, wider and built to stun on city streets and coastal roads.
- XL 800 Cabrio: the hardcore off-road version, sitting on portal axles with nearly 480mm of ground clearance, built to crawl over things you’d normally climb in a sport called rock-climbing.
The Roof Trick: 500 Parts Of Madness
Before we talk about stance and interiors, it’s worth appreciating the engineering circus happening above your head. Both cars use the same highly complex soft-top system with over 500 newly developed components, designed to keep the G-Class’s iconic boxy silhouette intact while chopping the roof.

The two-piece soft top opens or closes in around 20 seconds at the push of a button. There’s a heated safety-glass rear window and a carbon-fibre surface bow up front to keep the roof stable and wind noise in check at speed.
At the back, the fabric flows into a body-integrated “C-Bow” steel roll bar with exposed carbon elements, before folding neatly behind the rear seats under a custom tonneau cover. You’re basically getting the theatre of an old-school G-Wagen Cabrio, but engineered to modern OEM standards and then turned up to Brabus levels of ridiculousness.
Brabus 800 Cabrio: Road-Focused Icon
The Brabus 800 Cabrio is the one you take to JBR, Monaco, or Knightsbridge when you want to turn heads unlike anything else. Finished in Brabus’s signature “Black and Bold” Widestar style, it’s dripping in high-gloss carbon.
It rides on 24-inch Monoblock ZM “Platinum Edition” forged wheels, wrapped in ultra-low-profile performance rubber. Brabus height-adjustable sport springs allow the SUV to be dropped by 20-40 mm, tightening up the stance and sharpening the handling.
Performance? 0–100 km/h in 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 240km/h, electronically limited. The valve-controlled Brabus sports exhaust with quad side-exit pipes and carbon surrounds gives you two modes: discreet, or “wake the marina”.
Inside is a Brabus Masterpiece leather interior in Oxford Sand and Cairos Brown with Intricate ‘Shell’ quilting across seats, doors, floor, and even the boot. In addition, there’s leather everywhere: dash, pillars, console, trunk, plus carbon pedals, carbon shift paddles, and illuminated carbon sill plates.
Brabus XL 800 Cabrio: Off-Road Couture On Portal Axles
Where the 800 Cabrio is lowered and sleek, the Brabus XL 800 Cabrio is the unhinged off-road sibling that lives for dunes, rocks, and maybe some social media flex. Here, the big party trick is underneath: Brabus portal axles with CNC-milled portal gearboxes at each wheel, lifting the hubs by 150mm and delivering a wild 480mm of ground clearance.
It also comes with Brabus Ride Control coilover suspension, with height and damping adjustment from the cockpit. The 22-inch Monoblock Z-HD “Platinum Edition” forged wheels look amazing, wrapped with chunky 325/55 R22 Pirelli Scorpion ATR all-terrain tyres.
All of it sits under a Pale Brown Widestar body, with the frame and portal axles painted in Rocket Red for maximum drama when it’s on a ramp or flexed on a rock.
The powertrain is the same 800hp and 1,000Nm V8, but tuned for off-road usage. It does 0–100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, and the top speed is capped at 210km/h because of the tyres. Inside, the XL 800 Cabrio goes full concept-car showpiece with the “Ardent Aura” cabin in Ravion Red leather, echoing the red suspension.
