BMW to offer an M2 racecar for all of you who love to race

Buy and take it to the track for fun or to try and win your class in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring

Building a racecar isn’t cheap. Neither is owning one, maintaining it, or replacing it once you’ve smashed it into the wall at high speed. The going motto is if you want to make a million dollars racing, start with two… or ten. Buying a fully built car, from a manufacturer, makes so much sense if you’ve got the coin. BMW is set to give you a great option with their M2 Racing

BMW has given us the M235i Racing, M240i Racing, and the M2 CS Racing, and now, based on the current production model, the M2 Racing. They’ve tuned the car for the track and sought input from M Racing drivers regarding the handling, fuel consumption, and tire wear—all things you want sorted for you, so you don’t have to take the time to figure it out!

“With the BMW M2 Racing, we’ve succeeded in bringing an entry-level customer racing model to the track that combines driving pleasure, performance, and particularly intuitive handling,” explained Björn Lellmann, Head of Customer Racing at BMW M Motorsport. “The development was carried out in close collaboration between BMW M Motorsport and experts from series production. The result is a powerful race car that combines easy operation with low running costs. This efficiency makes the BMW M2 Racing particularly attractive for grassroots motorsport – and makes racing even more accessible for customers.”

The current M2 is already a darling that a lot of people are sleeping on. The 1M gets all the fame from the small BMW platform of recent years, but the M2 is a direct descendant and far more affordable and plentiful than its older brother. Let’s not forget, too, this is one of the last manual transmission cars for sale, anywhere. We are doing a disservice to all gearheads by not buying one ourselves, but let’s go a step further and get the M2 Racing, shall we? Maybe not… but it sure is cool that this exists in a time when manufacturers are timidly stepping back into racing.

Starting next year, 2026, you’ll start seeing these M2 Racing cars competing around the world. They’ll be fielded at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and other notable events, even popping up for local track days if you’re lucky to spot one. Pricing starts at 98,000 Euro before tax and other fees.

Cheers!
