Aska A5 Flying Car To Wow UAE Soon

It’s heading to the world’s largest technology show.

Are you planning a visit to this year’s GITEX Global event? If yes, here’s something you’d want to check out there. There will be a dedicated space for a California-based brand called Aska. And there, you’ll get a glimpse into the future. The company has confirmed that its A5 flying car will be at the event.

The Aska A5 is the world’s first flying car to start the type certification process with USA’s FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). In fact, the prototype has already been awarded a Certificate of Authorization (COA) and Special Airworthiness Certification by the FAA, where the latter confirms the vehicle has met all safety requirements.

Aska says that the A5 occupies a space similar to an SUV in drive mode. And when it comes to flying, the A5 has Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) and Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) capabilities. The vehicle is powered by a fully electric system with a range extender. In other words, it uses lithium-ion batteries to power the six propellors, while a gasoline-powered engine adds to the flying range. The A5 can travel up to 402km when airborne and hit speeds up to 241kmph. And it can seat four.

Pre-orders for the Aska A5 opened in 2021. Until June this year, bookings worth USD 50 Million have been secured.
