Performance and battery
The updated Vision Pro uses Apple’s M5 chip, built on third-generation 3 nm technology, combining a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine to speed up multitasking, graphics and on-device AI. The headset renders about 10 per cent more pixels than the previous model and can raise its refresh rate to 120 Hz for reduced motion blur and smoother transitions between virtual and real views. The R1 chip continues to manage input from the device’s cameras, sensors and microphones to maintain a near‑real-time view of the user’s surroundings. Battery life is improved to around two and a half hours of general use and up to three hours of video playback on a single charge, with the option to keep using the external battery while it is connected to power.

Comfort and fit
Apple’s new Dual Knit Band is a single 3D‑knitted piece with upper and lower straps that provide cushioning, breathability, and stretch. Tungsten inserts in the lower strap act as a counterweight for balance and stability, and a dual-function Fit Dial allows fine adjustments. The band comes in small, medium, and large sizes, is compatible with the previous Vision Pro, and can be bought separately.
Software and spatial features
visionOS 26 adds persistent spatial widgets, improved Personas for more natural video interactions, and spatial scenes that use generative AI to add depth to photos. The update supports 180-degree, 360-degree and wide field‑of‑view video from action cameras, enabling creators to publish immersive footage to apps and the web. An iPad companion app, arriving later, will help users discover content, queue downloads and access tips.

Apps, entertainment and gaming
The App Store lists over one million apps compatible with the headset, including more than 3,000 built specifically for visionOS. New and updated apps cover home design, fashion, museums, travel, productivity and education. Apple highlights Apple Immersive content, a growing 3D movie catalogue in select markets, and support for controllers, including Sony DualSense and PlayStation VR2 Sense, with Apple Arcade adding titles optimised for Vision Pro.

Professional and enterprise uses
The headset is positioned for creative and enterprise workflows: spatial media editing, location scouting, design review, pilot training simulations and 3D medical imaging are among the cited use cases. Partners and customers are testing Vision Pro for training, vehicle visualisation and healthcare applications.
