One of India’s youngest and quickly expanding airlines, Akasa Air, has welcomed its 28th aircraft. The narrowbody is a Boeing 737 MAX 8-200, which landed at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport. It began its flight from Seattle, USA, and landed in Keflavik, Iceland. The aircraft’s last leg of the journey commenced in Kuwait and concluded at Bengaluru on May 1, 2025. Akasa Air confirms that its latest inductee bears registration number VT-YBE.

Akasa Air has grown its fleet to 28 aircraft within 32 months of starting operations in August 2022. The airline chose the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft because it promises 20 per cent better fuel economy and a 40 per cent smaller noise footprint. Akasa Air will receive 198 Boeing 737 MAX jets over the next seven years, before the American aircraft manufacturer can mark this deal as completed.
