Abu Dhabi Motors Opens New Retail.Next Showroom; Launches New BMW X2 And MINI Countryman SUVs

Retail.Next concept turns the generic car buying transaction into an immersive experience; the new X2 gets 2 powertrain choices, while the Countryman gets 3 including an all-electric JCW variant.

The official importer of BMW Group vehicles in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, showcased its all-new customer-centric Retail.Next showroom in Al Khalidiyah, Abu Dhabi. The state-of-the-art showroom which “merges sleek modern designs with immersive digital and physical elements” also played host to the launch of two new vehicles, the all-new BMW X2 and MINI Countryman crossover SUVs.

Retail.Next: Car buying mixed with club vibes

The new Retail.Next design concept brought to life in the Abu Dhabi showroom – and those across the globe – attempts to create an immersive and luxurious environment for both BMW and MINI customers and enthusiasts. It is an effort to turn the generic retail experience with blinding, high-voltage lighting and overpopulated shop floors to a more, relaxed zone with lifestyle elements which helps showcase the vehicles and the merchandise better and thereby, making car buying an experience rather than just a transaction. It displays only a select number of cars, allowing more space for interactive experiences, high-end furniture, and lounge-like seating surrounding the models creating a more inviting and comfortable environment for customers. With its eco-friendly design and integration of smart store capabilities, the showroom is said to be a new benchmark for automotive retail spaces.

All-New BMW X2 Highlights

The launch of the all-new BMW X2 at the Retail.Next showroom marked the introduction to BMW’s latest advancements in design and engineering. This 2nd generation premium Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) features larger dimensions, a striking coupé silhouette, and dynamic lines. Two petrol-engine model variants are available, the BMW X2 sDrive20i and the M performance model BMW X2 M35i xDrive, both equipped with 7-speed Steptronic transmission. The upright front end, features striking LED headlights and an optional Iconic Glow contour lighting around the hexagonal BMW kidney grille, while the premium interiors feature a slender instrument panel, BMW Curved Display, and floating armrest with integral control panel. Options such as Veganza perforated leather, and sport seats with massage function are also available.

All-new MINI Countryman Highlights

The all-new MINI Countryman was also showcased at the new Abu Dhabi Motors showroom. It will be offered in several variants, including the C, S, and John Cooper Works (JCW) models. The new model comes with of a host of revisions, the most significant ones being the change from the almost-oblong shaped headlights to a trapezoidal shape on the outside, the incorporation of a 240mm dia. circular OLED touchscreen on the inside and the inclusion of a fully-electric powertrain on the JCW model. The all-wheel drive system ALL4 is available for the S and JCW versions.
