2027 Ducati Panigale V2 SP Debuts as Homologation Model for World Supersport Championship

The 2027 Ducati Panigale V2 SP has been unveiled as the homologation model for Ducati's 2027 World Supersport programme. It features an 890cc V2 engine, STM EVO-SBK dry clutch, Öhlins suspension, lightweight forged wheels, a longer swingarm and exclusive Winter Test livery.

Ducati has unveiled the 2027 Panigale V2 SP at EICMA 2026, introducing a more specialised version of its middleweight supersport motorcycle. Based on the Panigale V2 S, the SP variant receives several mechanical and chassis upgrades that improve its performance on the circuit.

The new SP variant has been developed as the production homologation model for Ducati’s return to the FIM Supersport World Championship with the new-generation V2 platform from the 2027 season.

What makes the 2027 Ducati Panigale V2 SP a WorldSSP homologation model?

The 2027 Ducati Panigale V2 SP has been commissioned to meet the homologation requirements to compete in the FIM Supersport World Championship from 2027.

Ducati says the development of the Panigale V2 SP has drawn on experience gained through the Lenovo V2 Future Champs Academy. The model also marks the return of the SP designation to its original purpose at Ducati, representing a production motorcycle developed to validate technical solutions intended for competition.

What engine powers the 2027 Ducati Panigale V2 SP?

The 2027 Ducati Panigale V2 SP is powered by an 890cc, 90-degree V-twin engine featuring four valves per cylinder and Ducati’s Intake Variable Timing (IVT) system. The liquid-cooled engine produces 120 hp at 10,750rpm and 93.3 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm; power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox with Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 and STM EVO-SBK dry clutch.

The STM EVO-SBK dry clutch system helps manage rear wheel behaviour during aggressive downshifts and makes throttle-off transitions smooth on the track.

What chassis, suspension, and brake upgrades does the Panigale V2 SP receive?

The Panigale V2 SP retains the aluminium monocoque frame but receives a longer double-sided swingarm inspired by the design of the Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm used on the Panigale V4. The motorcycle rides on five-spoke forged aluminium wheels that are 1.5kg lighter than those fitted to the Panigale V2 S.

The suspension package comprises a fully adjustable 43mm Öhlins NIX30 front fork with TiN treatment and a fully adjustable Öhlins rear shock absorber, replacing the standard equipment seen on the V2 S.

The braking system consists of twin 320mm semi-floating front discs paired with Brembo M50 radial-mount monobloc callipers. At the rear, the motorcycle uses a 245mm disc with a two-piston calliper. Bosch Cornering ABS is also part of the braking package.

What electronic features does the 2027 Ducati Panigale V2 SP offer?

The Panigale V2 SP receives an electronics package derived from the Panigale V4. The package includes Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control and Bosch Cornering ABS, with adjustable intervention levels.

Additional features include Ducati Power Launch and a Ducati Pit Limiter, alongside Ducati Quick Shift 2.0. The V2 SP also features a new five-inch colour TFT display, through which the electronic assistance settings can be adjusted, including while riding.

What are the design and aerodynamic changes on the 2027 Ducati Panigale V2 SP?

The 2027 Ducati Panigale V2 SP is shrouded in Ducati’s Winter Test Livery, similar to the one seen on the other SP models Ducati has unveiled recently. But the V2 SP also features bodywork and components which not only serve as visual elements but also as functional elements aiding in the motorcycle’s overall performance.

The middleweight supersport features Carbon fibre components and a new thermoformed racing front fairing, which is 40mm taller than the one fitted to the Panigale V2 S. The taller fairing is designed to improve aerodynamic protection for the rider, particularly when tucked behind the windscreen at higher speeds.
