McLaren Artura 1000GP By MSO: Celebrating 1,000 Formula 1 Grands Prix In Style

In honour of its 1,000th Formula 1 race, McLaren has turned its 690hp supercar into an instant collector's item. Only 10 units will be made!

Why Has McLaren Created The Artura 1000GP?

McLaren Racing will make its 1,000th Formula 1 Grand Prix start at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, becoming only the second team after Ferrari to reach the prestigious milestone.

To celebrate the occasion, McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has created the Artura 1000GP, a limited-run special edition that pays tribute to more than six decades of racing history. During that journey, McLaren has amassed 10 Constructors’ Championships and over 200 Formula 1 victories. Therefore, only 10 units of the Artura 1000GP will be built.

What Makes The Artura 1000GP Special?

Inspired by the special Monaco Grand Prix livery of the McLaren MCL40 Formula 1 car, the Artura 1000GP receives a bespoke exterior treatment developed by McLaren Special Operations (MSO). The design is intended to celebrate the journey to McLaren Racing’s 1,000th Formula 1 Grand Prix start, while strengthening the connection between the brand’s road cars and its racing programme.

Key design highlights include:

  • Unique 1000GP graphic across the bonnet
  • Special graphics on the lower body sides
  • Bespoke wing mirror detailing
  • Papaya pinstriping on the front splitter
  • Matching papaya accents on the rear diffuser
  • Metallic papaya commemorative plaque inside
  • Strictly limited production of just 10 units

According to McLaren, the livery reflects the resilience and determination that have defined the team throughout its Formula 1 history. The contrasting papaya detailing draws inspiration from some of McLaren’s most recognisable racing liveries, while the commemorative plaque inside serves as a reminder of the achievement this special edition celebrates. It’s subtle enough to remain elegant, but distinctive enough that any McLaren fan will immediately understand its significance.

McLaren Artura Performance Specifications:

  • 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain
  • Combined output: 690hp
  • Peak torque: 720Nm
  • 8-speed dual-clutch transmission
  • Rear-wheel drive
  • 0-100km/h: 3.0 seconds
  • 0-200km/h: 8.3 seconds
  • Top speed: 330km/h

Unlike many hybrid supercars that pile on weight, the Artura’s carbon-fibre architecture helps keep mass under control while maintaining the sharp handling characteristics McLaren is known for.

Why Will Collectors Want The Artura 1000GP?

The answer is simple: rarity and timing. Only 10 examples will be produced worldwide, making it one of the rarest Artura variants ever created. More importantly, it commemorates a milestone that McLaren Racing will never repeat. There will only ever be one 1,000th Grand Prix start.

The fact that McLaren is currently the defending champion in both the Drivers’ Championship and Constructors’ Championship, just makes the 1000GP even more attractive. For Formula 1 fans, especially those following McLaren’s return to the front of the grid in recent seasons, the Artura 1000GP represents a unique piece of the team’s history.

A Celebration Of McLaren’s Greatest Achievement

The Artura 1000GP doesn’t bring more power or faster lap times. Instead, it celebrates the journey from Bruce McLaren’s small racing operation in 1963 to one of Formula 1’s most successful teams.

With Monaco providing the backdrop and only 10 cars being built, expect this special edition to become an instant collector’s item long before most enthusiasts ever see one on the road. In fact, we expect all 10 units to be spoken for even before it is displayed at the 2026 Monaco GP.
