What exactly is the Bimota KB399?
The Bimota KB399 is a new 400cc middleweight supersports that embodies Japanese engineering and Italian craftsmanship. Built upon the mechanical base of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR, the KB399 incorporates Bimota’s bodywork, detailing, and hardware choices to create a more premium and niche package relative to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR.
The KB399 embodies a distinct styling cue, such as bespoke body panels and design language, which allows the motorcycle to display more sculpted and exotic looks compared to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR. Beyond styling, the KB399 also gets premium components such as billet aluminium triple clamps and steering stem top cap, a custom Akrapovic silencer and Brembo Stylema radial monobloc brake callipers as part of the package.
On the Chassis side, Bimota uses a trellis steel frame from the Ninja ZX-4RR. while the standard KB399 uses a fully adjustable Showa 41mm SFF-BP front forks and a Showa rear shock. There’s a premium variant dubbed the KB399 ES version that features a much more premium Öhlins STX46 rear shock.
What engine does the Bimota KB399 use?
Bimota KB399 uses a 399cc, DOHC liquid-cooled, inline-four engine, as seen on the Ninja ZX-4RR, but with an Italian touch, Bimota has focused on reworking the engine’s sound and throttle response by adding a custom Akrapovic exhaust. The Inline four produces about 77 bhp at 14,500 rpm and 39 Nm of torque at 13,000 rpm.
What electronics features are offered?
The KB399 features a strong electronics package borrowed directly from the Ninja ZX-4RR, such as the three riding modes, traction control, ABS, a 4.3-inch TFT instrument display, and a quickshifter as standard.
