CFMoto has revealed the 500SR as a new middleweight sportbike, through type-approval documents filed in China, indicating towards another addition to the SR family lineup. The document hints the new CFMoto supersports is based on the 500SR Voom. The 500SR was first revealed to the world in 2023 alongside the 675 SR-R, while the latter went into prodcution the 500SR took a back seat, that is until 2026, where reports suggest CFMoto is finally gearing up for a full fledged prodcution launch.
What exactly is the CFMoto 500SR?
The 500SR is a new faired middleweight sportbike that expands CFMoto’s SR lineup while introducing a rare four-cylinder configuration to the segment, a rare reciepe for a motorcycle in this segment. The 500SR is based on the exisitng CFMoto 500SR Voom – a neo retro supersports motorcycle embodying the design language of the past fared bikes.
What engine powers the new 500SR?
Power comes from a 499cc inline-four-cylinder engine that produces roughly 79hp at 12,500rpm and 49Nm at 10,000rpm.
How does it differ from the 500SR Voom?
While the 500SR shares the same mechanicals and underpinning – the 500SR differs itself on the stylistic front, reflecting a much more modern and futuristic design language compared to the Voom’s much more neo retro approach that pays homage to the legends from the past.
What hardware details have been revealed so far?
The CFMoto 500SR is mechanically identical to the 500SR Voom, sharing components such as a a tubular steel frame, a 41mm fullyadjustable front, rear suspension and swingarm along with the afforementionned 499cc inline-four-cylinder engine. However accoring the type approval documents the 500SR seems to weight 7kg lighter than 500SR Vooms 194kg.
