Boeing Gets A New Aircraft Order From Turkish Airlines

Details of the Order

Turkish Airlines has confirmed an order for 35 Boeing 787-9 and 15 787-10 aircraft, with options for 25 more Dreamliners. This deal delivers a massive boost to the airline’s long-haul aircraft and aligns with its strategy to modernise its fleet.

Alongside the widebody deal, the carrier announced plans to purchase up to 150 more 737 MAX aircraft. Once finalised, this will mark its largest single-aisle order with Boeing.

Strategic Vision

Chairman Prof. Ahmet Bolat described the order as a milestone in the airline’s “2033 Vision,” which aims to expand the fleet to 800 aircraft. He emphasised the role of modern jets in improving efficiency, reducing fuel use, and enhancing passenger comfort.

The Boeing 787-10, with its larger capacity and improved fuel economy, is expected to be deployed on high-demand routes between Istanbul and destinations across Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the United States. At the same time, the 737 MAX will support regional and medium-haul growth.

Industry Impact

Boeing and Turkish Airlines have shared a business partnership for decades. The 200 Boeing aircraft in the latter’s fleet is proof enough. The new orders are projected to support over 123,000 jobs across the United States supply chain.

With the latest deal, Turkish Airlines will not only modernise its fleet but also position itself as a stronger global competitor. The carrier, which operates a network reaching more countries than any other airline globally, will further strengthen its stance in the industry.
