Biggest order in the airline’s history
Uzbekistan Airways has signed an agreement with Boeing for up to 22 787 Dreamliners. The deal includes 14 confirmed 787-9 aircraft and options for eight more. This is the largest aircraft order ever placed by the airline.
Expanding long-haul reach
The announcement was made in New York on September 22, 2025, in the presence of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The new aircraft will enable the airline to expand its flights to the United States and other long-haul destinations. Uzbekistan Airways already operates the 787 and uses it to connect Europe, Asia, and North America.

Benefits of the 787
The Boeing 787-9 offers more seats and a longer range than earlier models. It is also known for lower fuel use, modern design, and passenger comfort. Compared with older aircraft, the 787 can cut fuel consumption by up to 25 per cent.
Leadership comments
Shukhrat Khudaikulov, Chairman of Uzbekistan Airways, said the order will strengthen the airline’s role as a hub in Central Asia. Boeing’s Brad McMullen added that the aircraft will support the airline’s growth and connect more travellers to Uzbekistan.
Wider cooperation
Alongside the aircraft order, Boeing and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport signed a cooperation agreement. This will explore opportunities to develop the country’s broader aviation sector, demonstrating that the partnership extends beyond aircraft supply and maintenance.
