Etihad Will Launch Direct Flights To Damascus Next Year

With flights originating from Abu Dhabi, the route will operate four times weekly.

Etihad to the World’s Oldest City

The national carrier of the UAE, Etihad Airways, has confirmed the addition of the world’s oldest city to its growing network. The airline will launch direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Damascus, Syria, from June 12, 2026. The capital of Syria will become the 28th new destination that Etihad will begin serving within a year.

Four Weekly Flights

Etihad will operate four weekly flights on the newly announced route aboard an Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring eight seats in Business Class and 150 in Economy. Flying on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, flight EY561 will depart from the UAE’s capital at 09:15 and land in Damascus at 11:30. The return leg, flight EY562, will commence and conclude its journey at 15:00 and 19:00, respectively. All times mentioned are local.

Numbers Back the Move

The trade between Syria and the UAE is growing. In 2024, the business between the two nations rose 23 per cent Y-o-Y to AED 2.5 billion (USD 680 million). Moreover, over 350,000 Syrians reside and work in the UAE.
