Oris has introduced the new Aquis Date Diamonds 36.50 mm collection. The collection includes a black dial version with diamond hour-markers and a mother-of-pearl dial version with a bezel set with diamonds. Both versions are available with a stainless-steel bracelet or a black rubber strap. They join the Aquis Date 36.50 mm collection which was unveiled last year.

Black dial. 11 hour-markers, each set with 3 lab-grown and conflict-free diamonds. Hours, minutes, and lollipop seconds hand are coated with Super-LumiNova. Date window at 6 o’clock is the same colour as the dial, a thoughtful and aesthetically pleasing touch. Ceramic black insert on unidirectional rotating bezel.

Mother-of-pearl dial. 11 hour-markers, and hours, minutes, and lollipop seconds hand are coated with Super-LumiNova. Date window at 6 o’clock is the same colour as the dial, a thoughtful and aesthetically pleasing touch. 44 lab-grown and conflict-free diamonds set into the bezel.
Movement
Powered by a Swiss automatic movement, most likely Oris calibre 733-1 used in the Aquis Date 36.50 mm collection. It is based on the Sellita SW200-1, a dependable and robust automatic movement that drives the hours, minutes, seconds, stop seconds, instantaneous date, and quick set date. Diameter: 25.60 mm or 11 ½ lignes. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 41 hours.
Case

Stainless steel case – multi-piece and corrosion resistant. Diameter: 36.50 mm. Its sapphire crystals and water resistance are most likely the same as the Aquis Date 36.50 mm collection. Dial side features a sapphire crystal, domed on both sides, with anti-reflective coating on the inside. Stainless steel caseback is screwed to the main case and features a mineral glass. Water resistant up to 30 bar or 300 metres.
Both dial versions are available with a stainless-steel bracelet or a rubber strap.
Our Thoughts
Oris is a champion of sustainability and ethics, hence their use of lab-grown and conflict-free diamonds. Earlier this month, they introduced the new Big Crown 34 mm at Watches and Wonders Geneva, which also features 12 such diamonds on its dial.
Versatile luxury comes to mind when thinking about the new Aquis Date Diamonds 36.50 mm collection. At 36.50 mm they are unisex (nowadays even 34 mm is considered unisex.) The diamonds and mother-of-pearl makes both these tool watches luxurious. When paired with a stainless-steel case with either a bracelet or rubber strap, they become the perfect GADA (go anywhere do anything) watch. And true to Oris style, they do not break the bank.

Image: Black dial version on rubber strap. My personal favourite, as just the right amount of understated “bling” and paired with a super comfortable rubber strap.
Once again Oris soldiers on by offering exceptional and desirable watches that are relatively affordable. My favourite is the black dial version on rubber strap.
