The all-new Volkswagen Tayron SUV is out, but its heading to Europe. Positioned between the premium Touareg and compact Tiguan, this SUV sports VW’s new design language and is available with 5 or 7 seats with up to 885-litre luggage capacity. The Tayron comes with 7 powertrains, including 2 plug-in hybrids with over 100 km of electric range.

The 4.8-metre-long Tayron stands out with VW’s new SUV design language, featuring LED headlights and an illuminated Volkswagen badge in front, and a full-length LED crossbar with a lit logo at the rear. Sharp lines enhance its premium look and elongated silhouette. Inside, the Tayron offers refined materials like ArtVelours Eco microfibre and open-pore wood, with illuminated decorative trim, depending on the equipment level.
Standard Features: 3-zone A/C, 10-colour Ambient lighting, 12.6″ screen & 17″ wheels
The Tayron’s entry-level package, Life, offers extensive standard features. These include 9 airbags, a 3-zone automatic air conditioner, 10-color ambient lighting, multifunctional driving experience control, a 12.6 cm infotainment system with navigation and wireless App-Connect, digital instruments, LED headlights with automatic main beam, illuminated Volkswagen logos, 3D tail lights, rear door sun blinds, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Two higher packages, Elegance and R-Line, follow the Life trim. Also standard are assist systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane change (Side Assist), lane keeping (Lane Assist), automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, Park Assist Plus, rearview camera, dynamic road sign display, and a new exit warning system, which can prevent door opening if another vehicle approaches from behind.
Optional Features: Massage seats, 700W Harman-Kardon system & ChatGPT integration
Optional features for the Tayron include adaptive chassis control (DCC Pro), IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights with interactive functions, and Travel Assist for assisted driving. Other options include the IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration (with the Discover infotainment package), a panoramic sunroof, a 700-watt Harman-Kardon sound system, leather upholstery with power-adjustable seats offering massage and ventilation, and an electric child safety lock for the rear seats.
Powertrain: 1 mild hybrid, 2 plug-in hybrids, 2 turbo petrol engines & 2 turbo diesel engines
Volkswagen will launch the Tayron with mild hybrid (eTSI), plug-in hybrid (eHybrid), turbocharged petrol (TSI), and turbocharged diesel (TDI) engines, all paired with the DSG transmission. The entry-level eTSI delivers 148 hp, while the plug-in hybrids combine electric and petrol power for 201 hp or 268 hp, offering over 100 km electric range with a 19.7 kWh battery. Their batteries can be charged with up to 11 kW at an AC wallbox or AC charging station and with up to 50 kW at DC quick-charging stations. The top TDI engine, producing 190 hp, comes with standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive and can tow up to 2,500 kg, assisted by the Trailer Assist system.

The entry-level version is the 148 hp eTSI in the Life specification package, which is available from 45,475 euros or AED 182,800 approx. In addition, the two eHybrid versions and the most powerful TDI with 142 kW are also available to order. With the presence of the Teramont in the Middle Eastern markets, it is unlikely that we will receive the Tayron.
