Ultraviolette Launches the F77 Mach 2

Frugal, Faster, and Cheaper than its Predecessor – is this the pinnacle of automotive sequels?

Indian Electric motorcycle manufacturer has taken the wraps off their latest offering the F77 Mach 2 – it’s a second iteration of the F77 their debut product. The newly launched F77 Mach 2 comes with two different variants for the buyers to choose from Original and Recon which comes at the cost of 2.99 lakhs for the former and 3.99 Lakhs for the latter.

This new pricing is surely a welcome surprise as it undercuts the outgoing base F77 by nearly 80k and about 50k for the Recon variant, However, the prices mentioned above are introductory and only the first 1000 customers of the bike will be able to relish it, although we would like to believe that prices won’t be drastically changed after the first 1000 models are sold.

Performance and Range

The updated Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 Recon does 0-60 kph in 2.8 seconds in contrast to the previous F77 which was capable of doing it in 2.9 seconds, The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 also gets to a ton in just 7.7 seconds, fractionally quicker than the outgoing F77.

Propelling The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 Recon to such speeds is a 10.3 kWh battery pack and produces 40 hp and 100Nm of torque and the Base variant original gets a 7.1 kWh battery pack which produces 36hp and 90 Nm of torque which makes it slightly slower to the Recon Variant by 0.1 seconds while achieving 0-100 km/h.

Naturally, with all the performance gain one would not be wrong to assume the range from this e-motorcycle would take a hit for the sake of performance, but on the contrary, the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 engineers found a way to extract more range from its batteries, F77 Mach 2 Original gets a range of 211 km and the Recon gets a range of 323 kms from a single charge as opposed to its predecessors 307 km on per charge.

Ultraviolette Mach 2 Features & Design

The Design of the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 is not all that different from its predecessor but with small subtle changes to the fuel tank and decals on the body – However, the introduction of fresh and exciting colour schemes that are on offer is quite nice.

Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 two variants, Original and Recon, are each available in three versions: Stealth, Laser, and Airstrike. Stealth’s color palette hosts Asteroid Grey, Cosmic Black, and Stealth Grey; Laser has Turbo Red, Afterburner Yellow, and Plasma Red and Airstrike comes in Lightning Blue, Stellar White, and Supersonic Silver.

In terms of features, F77 Mach 2 gets 10 levels of regenerative braking on the Recon model, whereas the standard F77 Mach 2 offers three levels however one can opt for 10 levels of regen as an option on the original. It Recon gets a traction control system, also optional on the original variant, offering modes for Sport/Track, City/Street, and Rain/Ice riding.

Other notable features are a hill hold assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system (optional), customisable display themes, charge limits, and onboard navigation. Also on offer is the ‘Violette AI’ package to make the F77 Mach 2 safer than its predecessors. The ‘Smart Tech’ features comprise Violette AI, Delta Watch, Lockdown, Crash Alert, Anti-Collision Warning System, and Daily Ride Analytics – all of which can be added as options.

Something that has to be noted here is some features that are standard on the Recon variant are offered as options on the standard/base original variant.

Booking and deliveries

Bookings for the e-bike have already begun with Ultraviolette confirming the deliveries shall commence in the latter part of May.

Electric Vehicles have been impressing the world for years now with their performance but unfortunately, the cost of having one was way too high compared to their ICE adversaries and performance advantage was not enough to justify the purchase due to range anxiety and various other attributes of E vehicles.

However, with advancements in technology and a massive push from the government some of those concerns are being taken care of, Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 is a prime example – it is faster, quicker, nicely equipped, and more affordable than its slower, and much more expensive predecessor- but will it be enough to topple the ICE counterparts in the same price bracket?
