There’s A Hint Of Taycan In The New Porsche Cayenne

The world premiere of the refreshed SUV is on April 18, 2023, at the Auto Shanghai show.

Porsche has been teasing the new Cayenne for a while now. We’ve seen it being fine-tuned in brutal conditions and know it’ll be produced in Bratislava. With the world premiere slated for April 18, 2023, at the Auto Shanghai show, the German brand has given us a glimpse of the SUV’s interior. At first glance, it exudes luxury and sportiness, not to miss the sense of robustness. But delving into the finer details is what reveals some exciting touches.

Even though the dashboard can house up to three displays, the first takeaway is a good balance between digital and analogue controls. The free-standing and curved 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster with up to seven display layouts, a redesigned centre console and the latest-gen multifunction steering wheel. They are reminiscent of the Taycan EV. In fact, the new Cayenne will become the first vehicle with an internal combustion engine that takes interior design elements from the brand’s pure-electric sports car.

The gear selector has moved right next to the steering wheel, slotted between the instrument cluster and the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This change has helped Porsche create room for a large AC control unit, which blends touch-sensitive buttons with haptic feedback and analogue controls. The centre console also has more space for knick-knacks, while the redesigned control lever for the driver assistance systems is now on the steering wheel. That also houses controls for the optional head-up display and the driving mode switch, a standard feature in the new Cayenne.

The screen for the front passenger is also an optional extra, spanning 10.9 inches diagonally and featuring a special foil that ensures the driver cannot see what’s being displayed. That means the front passenger can watch videos without distracting the driver. The screen also assists the central display, meaning the passenger can program the navigation and other features. Apart from that, Porsche says the upper part of the doors (inside the cabin) have also been redesigned.

The new Cayenne also packs more features. The list includes two USB-C ports in the front storage space, and two in the rear area of the centre console, all providing fast charging. Support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is also available while pairing a smartphone can be done by scanning a QR code on the central screen.

Expect Porsche to reveal more about the new Cayenne before D-day. Excited?
