Land Rover Introduces ‘Defender Journeys’ In India

It’s a self-drive adventure program that will include several sought-after itineraries across the country.

Stays in luxury hotels, cultural immersion, lifestyle experiences and trained instructors to accompany. These are some of the highlights of what Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has tagged their latest offering – Defender Journeys. As the name suggests, only Land Rover Defender vehicles will be available in all pre-planned journeys of this self-drive, multi-day adventure program. And each journey between two cities will have just five Defender vehicles in the main convoy.

Here’s how it works. Those interested can place their bookings with Cougar Motorsport, a company that specialises in curating such trips, and is licensed and authorised by JLR India. Details for the same are available on Land Rover India’s official website. The booking cost includes driving activities, permits and entry fees, twin-sharing accommodation, all meals and airport transfers. Even the costs of fuel, repair and refurbishment are built in. The exclusions are flights, visa fees, vaccinations, travel and accident insurance and other personal expenses.

Here’s what Rohit Suri, who is the president and MD at JLR India, said in a press release:

The Defender clients are active and adventurous. Defender, with its iconic driving capabilities and design, offers the perfect opportunity to engage our discerning clients with a program to explore the cultural diversity of our beautiful country; be it the stunning coastal regions, whitewashed peaks of the Himalayas or the ephemeral dunes of the Thar. Each journey is bound to be a trip of a lifetime.

As of now, there are four journeys that Land Rover has planned. The first one, which will commence on January 16, 2023, is the Konkan Experience. The convoy will travel from Goa to Bengaluru over seven days. There’s a return leg planned as well, which will run from March 12 to March 18, 2023. Other options include Nilgiri Experience (to and fro between Bengaluru and Coimbatore), Coromandel Experience (to and fro between Coimbatore and Chennai) and Malabar Experience (to and fro between Coimbatore and Kochi). More such journeys will be introduced in 2023, covering other parts of India.
