Audi Is Now Accepting Bookings For The New A8 In Oman

The limousine is available in two versions – the A8 L and the S8.

It was in November last year when Audi unveiled the refreshed A8. Then, earlier this year, the limousine went on sale in the UAE. And now, it’s up for grabs in Oman. Premium Motors, Audi’s official dealer in the country, recently unveiled the new A8 L and the S8 at the National Museum. Bookings for both those versions of the A8 family are now open but in limited numbers.

Audi A8 L

The version available has a 3.0-litre V6 engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The turbocharged powerplant pumps out 335bhp/500Nm, while an 8-speed automatic handles transmission duties. All four wheels are driven by Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system to make the most of the available oomph. As a result, the Audi A8 L can hit 100kmph from nothing in 5.7 seconds. Flat out, it’ll hit 250kmph before running into the electronic speed governors.

Audi S8

If you’re the sort of person who likes to drive your own limousine, then the S8 is a better fit. Not only does it carry a sportier outlook, but it also has a much stronger heart. Under the hood is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 (with a mild-hybrid system) that generates 563bhp and 800Nm of peak torque. Like in the A8 L, the oomph goes to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox in the S8. Sadly, the top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph. But, the S8 is much quicker getting there. For instance, the sprint from zero to 100kmph takes just 3.8 seconds. Those figures are hugely impressive for something that’s over 5 metres in length and weighs more than 2.2 tonnes unladen.

Features

As you’d expect, Audi hasn’t left any stone unturned to get the features list just right. Some of the gizmos available on the new A8 L and the S8 include Matrix LED headlights, four-zone automatic climate control, powered seats with massage and memory functions, a digital instrument cluster and two central displays of the dashboard (10.1-inch and 8.6-inch).

So, the question is – out of the two, which one suits your needs better?
