Q1: Hadjar Crashes as Verstappen Tops the Times
The opening phase of qualifying was briefly halted when Isack Hadjar crashed at Turn 6, bringing out the red flags just minutes into the session. Once running resumed, the Sauber pair were the first to take to the track, before the rest of the field followed for their final attempts.
Charles Leclerc initially went quickest with a 1:33.525, but Verstappen soon snatched P1 with a 1:33.207, ahead of both Mercedes drivers. At the end of Q1, the five drivers eliminated were Franco Colapinto, Gabriel Bortoleto, Esteban Ocon, Lance Stroll, and Isack Hadjar.
Q2: Verstappen Leads Again, Leclerc in Pursuit
Verstappen continued his strong form into Q2, setting the benchmark with a 1:32.701, a time that went unbeaten throughout the session. Leclerc slotted into second, with Norris in third as the top three tightened up ahead of the pole shootout.
Falling short of the final segment were Nico Hülkenberg, Liam Lawson, Yuki Tsunoda, Pierre Gasly, and Franco Colapinto.
Q3: Verstappen Secures Pole, Norris Splits the Red Bull-Ferrari Battle
With the track at its best in the final minutes, drivers wasted no time getting out for their decisive runs. Verstappen’s first flying lap (1:32.510) proved good enough for pole, with Norris just 0.4s behind.
The Red Bull driver opted not to complete a final attempt, heading back to the pits while no one else could better his time. Leclerc settled for third, followed by George Russell and Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes cars.
Oscar Piastri and Kimi Antonelli took sixth and seventh respectively, ahead of Oliver Bearman, Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso.
