airBaltic Launches Flight Between Palanga And Amsterdam

In April this year, Latvia’s national carrier, airBaltic, celebrated 15 consecutive years of service in Palanga, Lithuania. Now, the airline has expanded its operations further by introducing a direct flight between the Lithuanian seaside destination mentioned above and Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands.

Passengers will get the option to choose between two weekly airBaltic flights on the newly introduced route. The flight duration between the two points is about 2 hours and 10 minutes. Overall, airBaltic is connecting Lithuania to 19 destinations in 2024. The carrier continues to base two aircraft in Vilnius. On all flights, passengers can choose between Business and Economy class seats. Those planning to fly further can benefit from the airline’s 20+ codeshare partners.

Latvian airline airBaltic has chosen Recaro Aircraft Seating to equip its fleet of Airbus A220-300s with economy class seats, specifically the R2 derivative. The seats will boast the carrier’s light grey and leather covers. They will feature a 30-inch seat pitch, an integrated headrest, comfier cushioning and a USB-C port for charging mobile devices.

The Recaro R2 will also help the airline save on operational costs. The lightweight construction helps reduce the overall weight of the aircraft, which will have a 148-seat layout. As a result, the fuel consumption will decrease.

The first airBaltic jet equipped with Recaro R2 seats is expected to enter service in 2026. Once active, the Riga-headquartered airline will become the first in Europe and second in the world to feature Recaro seats on an Airbus A220-300.
