Following the model’s regional debut at the Jeddah International Motor Show in Saudi Arabia, MG Motor Middle East has announced the official launch of the new MG5 in the Middle East. The new sedan combines bold design with advanced technology to deliver excellent value for money, with prices starting from around AED 48,000 (equivalent to US$ 12,600 excluding VAT, depending on the market).
The new MG5 will suit a wide range of buyers, from first-time owners to small families and young drivers. The British-born brand’s model will be available in three trim levels: Standard (STD), Comfort (COM), and Deluxe (DEL).
The entry-level STD trim includes features like a multi-function steering wheel, parking radar, Apple Carplay, and Android Auto. The COM trim adds comfort and luxury with a rear-view camera and PVC leather seats. The DEL model further enhances the driving experience with a 360-degree camera, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, sunroof, 6-speaker audio, and a wireless mobile phone charger. While the STD and COM models come with a 3.5-inch colour instrument cluster, the top-of-the-range DEL model features a larger 12.3-inch virtual gauge on the Nautilus model for a premium feel.
The new MG5’s interior is spacious and comfortably accommodates five passengers. Its luggage capacity is 406 litres. The seats are equipped with 20mm of padding. Eco-friendly microfibre leather and a high-resilience foam seat frame enhance the interior’s sustainability and durability.
All variants are powered by a 1.5-litre engine producing 109 hp under the hood. The intelligent throttle valve design improves efficiency and extends service life. The new model features an 8-speed CVT, which has been rigorously tested for 2.35 million kilometres to ensure optimum durability and reliability.
The new MG5 features EPS (Electric Power Steering). This system includes PDC (Path Deviation Compensation) and TCS (Torque Compensation), ensuring stability and control in different driving conditions. Drivers can switch between three steering modes—light, Standard, and Soft—providing a tailored driving experience to suit any preference.
Additionally, the Super 360 Visual Assist system provides drivers with a comprehensive view of the vehicle’s surroundings, making parking and manoeuvring more accessible and safer. The STD and COM models have dual front and side airbags, while the DEL adds curtain airbags.
The new MG5 is available in the GCC, Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon.
