This is a new watch

Audemars Piguet is a brand today most popularly known for its Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore. I have to say the Offshore is one of my favourite watches and is on my buy list.

However, what you may not know is that AP (how it is referred to in the young, hip, millionaire watch buying scene) was the first watchmaker to invent the minute-repeating movement and also designed the world’s first skeleton watch in 1934.

In 2019 the brand launched their new lineup called Code 11.59. This line was met with polarizing views in the watch world. One section loved it, and the other did not.

However, I am here to introduce you to the super exclusive, super elegant and limited edition [Re]master01. Yes, that how it is written. The [Re]master01 is limited to only five hundred pieces.

This watch is the 2020 version of AP’s elegant chronograph watches from 1943. It comes in two-tone steel and pink gold case with a champagne face. The strap is hand-stitched light brown calf leather plus you get an additional dark brown alligator leather strap a well.

The [Re]master01 has Audemars Piguet latest generation of the self-winding chronograph mechanism. That means it comes with an integrated chronograph with column wheel and flyback function.

However, it is the back of the watch that as per me is the glamorous bit. It has a glare-proof sapphire glass back through which you can see the 22kt pink gold weight matching oscillating bezel. You can also see the complete mechanism of the chronograph.

From 1885 to 1970 Audemars Piguet used to sign Audemars Piguet & Co Genève on the face of the watch. This style has been reintroduced in this watch.

Overall I think this watch is a very modern interpretation of something that is truly classic. This is a watch that you would cherish for your lifetime and can be looked upon as an heirloom piece. What do you think of it? Let me know in the comments.
